Just launched, Outersounds is the first Irish music download store for Independent/Unsigned Artists & Bands and fans of exciting new music.

For May and June 2006 only, membership is free to Artists & Bands (membership is always free for customers)

For Artists, to sell you music, the current standard subscription is €28 per annum. Outersounds currently uses PayPal to handle payment of sales. PayPal charges a transaction fee as follows: fees = 3.4% of the sale total + €0.35.

Example 1:

total sale amount: €0.99 (1 song)
Transaction fee: (0.99 * 0.034) + 0.35 =0.38
Net Revenue: 0.99 – 0.38 = 0.61
Artist Revenue: 0.61 * 0.88 = €0.57

Example 2:

total sale amount: €2.97 (3 songs @ €0.99 each)
Transaction fee: (2.97 * 0.034) + 0.35 =0.45
Net Revenue: 2.97 – 0.45 = 2.52
Artist Revenue: 2.52 * 0.88 = €2.22 (74c per song)


NOTE: Even if multiple sales are not all frm the same Artist, the higher return-per-song will apply to all Artists in the same transaction, so Artists may consider joint-promotions.

Voucher systems and coupons are also freely available. Artists can issue a code to their fanbase, which they input at time of purchase, and get a discount on sales of selected items.
