I was looking at the odds for the Choice Music Prize today and was surprised to see that the 'big names' are not getting much of a look in.

Last year, Bell X1 was everyone's favourite and the eventual winner - Julie Feeney - was a bit of an outsider. Today's odds on Paddy Power seem to show that someone is putting a few quid on Sy Shroeder, and the 'names' such as Divine Comedy, Director and even Snow Patrol are not getting much of a look in, although Snow Patrol are still looking good.

My personal favourites, Republic of Loose, don;t seem to have anyone, other than me, putting a few cent on. Still, as last year showed, the bookies (and therefore the so-called music-biz experts) don;t always get it right.

Maybe a dark horse run-in from the outside by Messiah J would be good for a euro or two...

I'd threaten to burn Dave's car in order to get him to clue me in, except for two problems: First, the winner is not actually chosen till the night of the awards and the bookies are closed then. Plus, second, Dave wrote off his car just so I couldn't threaten to burn it :-)
