ABOUT NSMA:
There are not many open doors for grass roots and developing Acts in the Irish music industry, small as it is. However, since it’s inception in Ireland in 2001, the National Student Music Awards has become one of Ireland's biggest opportunities for developing bands.
Ireland’s National Student Music Awards took place nationwide again in 2006 and were the largest ever showcase for student talent in Ireland. The 2006 Awards provided a professional platform for Artists and Bands to perform to thousands of fellow students, media and decision makers and influential members of the Irish Music Industry.

The NSMA organized regional finals followed by a packed National final in front of a prestigious judging panel comprising of music and media celebrities who eventually pronounced 'Lotus Lullaby' as winners at an explosive Temple Bar Music Centre gig.

NSMA 2006 was sponsored by Bank of Ireland and IMRO, and received the full backing of USI (Union of Students in Ireland). The event was covered on TG4, 2FM, Today FM, FM104, BBC Radio Ulster, and all the National, Regional and Local newspapers and radio stations as well as the dedicated Student press.

While 'Lotus Lullaby' were declared winners of the 2006 NSMA, they were by no means the sole winners. All of the shortlised entrants who went on to play at the live gigs received widespread exposure and, whether they continue in the Music indusrty or not, will have no doubt learned much to their advantage
