29/08/2003: IU to publish an airplay chart...?:Ron, IU

more news... back to home page...

IrishUnsigned are in talks with Music Control to see if we can arrange the publishing of an 'Irish' or 'Unsigned' Airplay chart.

Music Control have initially agreed to install *any* CD sent in by bands onto their system, so if it does get played, it will show up.

Ultimately, they want bands to then buy reports of all plays nationwide* but even then they will give IU-referred bands the reports at half normal price.

This would be useful to bands in three ways:

1. Your CD gets played on radio, you get told how many times and by who, and when. You tell IMRO how much they owe you :-)

2. Your CD gets picked up by a local station and played heavily. Other stations, labels, industry people who0 get the chart may see your song on the playlists and wonder what it is like...

3. You have a record of who played your song in case you have paid a radio-plugger who says differently, or in case you want to plan your next release and schedule plays by the people who obviously like the last one...?

You don't have to have a CD on current release, as long as it was released to radio in the last 12 months, send it. If you have a release planned, send the CD to Music Control a month before release (or whenever you can)

Make sure you send the *exact same* CD as you send to radio to make sure their software can pick it up. Even the same songs with different edits will cause problems unless they have them all.

Any questions, contact Music Control (and mention IrishUnsigned as you do).
