Temple Bar Music Centre, Sound Training Centre and Temple Lane Studios have teamed up to provide a FREE music industry open days this summer beginning on Saturday June 24th.



This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in the thriving music industry to meet industry professionals and get a glimpse behind the scenes and discover what is really involved with sound engineering, stage management, DJing and producing. Three world class recording studios (Apollo, Sun and Elektra) will open their doors to the public for tours and workshops coordinated by the staff and engineers of Sound Training Centre. The public will tread the boards where Van Morrison, Elvis Costelloe, Ronnie Wood, Martha Wainwright, The Thrills, Bell XI, Snow Patrol and many more have recorded. Both Snow Patrol and Republic of Loose recently recorded sections of their number one albums in these studios.



Industry professionals will be on hand to give live demonstrations in the Temple Bar Music Centre venue extending an insight into lighting and visual effects, backline, front of house mixing desks and stage management. DJs Timmy and Tommy will give information on the new part time DJ course. TBMC is one of busiest music venues in Europe hosting performances, recording sessions, rehearsal studios and Sound Training College. Ever week over 80 bands pass through the TBMC facilities.



Sound Training Centre is the longest running college of its kind in Ireland. Established in 1986 the college provides full and part-time City and Guilds courses in Sound Engineering & Music Technology, Advanced Music & Media Production, Top Gun Real World Experience, Sound Engineering, Lighting & Stage Production, Electronic Music Production, Protools 101, 15 week DJ Course.



Past pupils of STC have gone on to work with U2, Robbie Williams, Slane Castle, Def Leppard, MCD, Warner Brothers, Temple Bar Music Centre, Temple Lane Recording Studios, Grouse Lodge, Windmill Lane, RTE, BBC, Channel 4, Formula 1 Administration, Sony, 98FM, The Ark, Mercury Records, The Church (Dave Stewart), Brian McFadden, The Blizzards, Michael Beinhorn and many more. STC have a close relationship with internationally famous Grouse Lodge Studios in Westmeath where many worldwide renowned artists such as Manic Street Preachers, Miss Dynamite, Bloc Party and Ronan Keating have recorded. Grouse Lodge have just taken on two qualified students who trained at Sound Training Centre for full time employment. They can look forward to working with McFly and Stereophonics over the next month.



The music industry is booming in Ireland at the moment. There are more outdoor music festivals this year than ever before in this country and just two weeks ago 260,000 people attended a number of concerts over just one weekend. Sound Training Centre provides fully qualified professionals to work in this expanding field.



Although our open days are beginning on Saturday we will be running open days all summer. They will have the opportunity to speak to sound and lighting engineers, DJs and course lecturers and receive career advice. Sound Training Centre is now enrolling for courses beginning in Autumn.
