01/07/2003: More radio stations for Dublin and surrounds?:Ron.

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland has announced plans for the further development of radio services in Dublin.

Having considered proposals and after lengthy consultations, four further FM frequencies have been flagged as being suitable for use in the Dublin area.

One frequency will cover Dublin city and county, another frequency Dublin city and part of the county with the remaining two providing city-wide coverage.

The BCI will now seek expressions of interest from those who wish to provide additional commercial and special interest services in the Dublin area with advertisements in the national press on 4 July.

We wonder if this has anything to do with Phantom being off the air? We heard rumours before this announcement and it will only serve to increase them. Here's hoping.
