Klara McDonnell is a performer to watch out for. She lists the likes of Sheryl Crow, Bruce Springsteen, Nick Cave, Madonna, The Fugees, Tom Waits, Mary J Blige, and Sinead O Connor as her influences. As former Ballyfermot Rock School graduate, Klara knows her way around the music business. She has previously played live in the following Dublin venues, Whelans, The Voodoo Lounge, Eamonn Dorans, Isaac Butts, Templebar Music Centre, both as a solo performer and in an Irish rock band called Extinguish. She has appeared on national television and press in Ireland many times over the last few years, both as a musician and as an actress. Appearing on shows such as Echo Island, Popscene, Fame Game on The Run, Craicean An Sceal and more. In 2003, Klara went to Hollywood to pursue her acting ambitions, first with Celtic Talent, Ireland and then later with A Management, Beverly Hills. When Klara returned, she completed her studies and received a National Diploma in Popular Music from Rock School. In 2004, seeking a chance of scenery, Klara went to the South of Germany. She went busking around the South of Germany and played live in various venues, this helped to develop her sound. That same year, Klara started to play live with another Irish Thimusician in Germany - Sinead Heffernan from Cork, who is a talented bohdran player. Since 2004 and 2005, they have been playing in different Irish pubs in Germany. In May last year, Klara travelled to Co. Cork, Ireland to record with the renowned Irish songwriter and producer, Andy Reynolds (from Ceol Nua/Uplift Entertainment http://www.ceolnua.com) who has worked with acts such as Shane MacGowan, Nsync and Carol Anthony. Sinead also laid down bodhran on the tracks. These tracks have a fresh new feel to them. Klara and Sinead recorded with Andy again later in the year on a new song called "No Second Chances." Klara recorded a song for a local German movie called, "Tartort Murgtal" in June 2005. Klaras songs Nothing More and Shooting Star received airplay and good feedback on local Irish radio stations in Cork and Dublin last Summer. Klara played at the CPU chart gig on the 1st of October in the Templebar Music Centre as she was one of the top three most played acts for the month of August. In late March this year, Klara returned to live in Ireland. She has since been playing singer/songwriter nights around the country.Site/Blog can be found here http://www.klaramcdonnell.blogspot.com
