REVIEWS

"Lucas' songs are melodic & meandering with enough unexpected twists to maintain interest, and an ultra confident singer boasting a voice like Vedders, but with the high notes. The band were very tight although risked alienating their audience by going through the motions with an air of "were just too good for this". Still, Lucas are extremely fucking good so perhaps the arrogance is justified".
- Fiona Reid (Hotpress Magazine)

"Vaguely reminiscent of perhaps Red Hot Chilli Peppers or even Pearl Jam in places, IrishUnsigned went to see Lucas live at Mono, then at TBMC in Dublin before the release [of Little Devil] and they were certainly worth seeing. Unfortunately, like any CD, Single or EP, the live sound simply could not be captured on disc. However, this is still a single worth getting. 'Little Devil' is the better of the three tracks but the slower "Take a While" and "Vanished" (which includes producer Pete Holidai on Organs) are certainly worth more than one listen. Lead singer Alan Gray has a voice that will get him noticed. Their songs, live, will also get them noticed. Their CD, clean and well produced, may well get them airplay... nothing wrong with having a real California feel on radio - might just help the Summer along. Having astounded the hangers-on at the late-running (1.30 am finish!) HotPress Ignition showcase, at a recent TBMC gig - and winning it into the bargain, Lucas look good for a long stay in Irish music.- Deirdre (IrishUnsigned.com)
