Hoarsebox is a four-piece rock/soul band with heavy emphasis on vocals. Don Barry (vocals, guitar), Johnny Holden (vocals, piano), Kieran Walkin (vocals, bass), and Max Carpio (vocals, drums) have been together since February 2005. Don and Kieran have both received a degree in music from UCD. Max has developed his trade through full time studies in jazz at Newpark School of Music and Johnny has earned a masters degree in journalism. The band have played all over Dublin – The Ambassador, Whelans, The Mezz, The Sugar Club, and Crawdaddy, and last summer’s Masquerade festival – and will play wherever soul, rock and ska are welcome. While they have several studio recordings they have chosen to concentrate on their live set and are yet to release a single. However, an EP and album are planned for 2006. |
