aMO got a second chance at life surviving a horrific car accident when he aged sixteen. At the time he was showing his talent for the stage in annual theater productions at his High School and through solo performances at bars in his local area in Ireland. aMO says: “The only fear I had while lying unable to move was not being able to perform or play guitar again. When I was given back that chance through a full recovery I made a promise to myself to live this life doing what moves me and what I love???. By the time he was 19, he became a household name in the north west of Ireland purely from his highly energetic and passionate performances. Drawing on influences like Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, U2 and Johnny Cash, aMO’s talent for songwriting was beginning to show its face. Having a large following of students he released his independent debut single ‘I wanna be there’, distributing it through the college student union’s, bars and local record stores. The single featured a song called “The RTC song??? a witty yet true song capturing student life in Ireland – it drew the attention of national press declaring it “a cult hit with students around the country???. After doing a string of shows in New York in ‘95, aMO decided this is where he wanted to be. Luck should prevail and soon after he got a green card and arrived back in the Big Apple in 1997. Performing a hectic 4 to 5 shows per week in bars and clubs throughout the North East region, again, his passion and catchy songs won over legions of new fans. November 1999 saw the completion of his independent debut album titled ‘Always now and forever’. The album was produced by Paul Zunno (Guitarist for Wilson Pickett) with former Wings drummer, Steve Holly. The album is currently out of print. aMO’s highly anticipated sophomore release, "east to west and back again" captures a more mature guitar driven rock sound complementing the power of aMO’s voice, yet still exposing the intimacy of his lyrics. The album is a 10 song collection produced by Brian Hardgrove,, (Public Enemy, Chuck D, Fine Arts Militia) and mixed by a Rod Hui (Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Tyler, Mary J. Blige). The album was recorded at Manhattan Center Studios with guitarist Oz Noy (Tony Braxton, Gavin Degraw, Chris Botti, Harry Belafonte), bassist Chulo Gatewood (Maxwell, Jennifer Holiday, Dianne Reeves) and Dido band members Alex Alexander on drums and John Deley on keyboards. The record was mastered at Sterling Sound, NYC by Chris Gehringer (Christina Aguilera, Tom Jones, Jewel, 50 Cent).
