Artists Biography / History / Notes:
NB: Do NOT use apostrophes (') in the following as this will cause problems later
Peter Moore: Bass / Vocals David Kerr-McCullough: Guitar Richard McConkey: Drums / Backing Vocals While the present incarnation of Pop Machine was born in 2002, the 3 members first started playing together in 1994 aged 14. Having met at school in Holywood, County Down, they started a garage band covering a diverse range of artists from Hendrix and Dylan to The Velvet Underground and Smashing Pumpkins. In 1997 the band was put on hold while David moved to Scotland, but a demo of original songs was recorded in Richard's basement on a return visit in the summer of 1998. Having settled as a three-piece, these recordings established the core sound of Pop Machine - fuzzed up guitar, pounding bass and tight, aggressive drumming. With David returning home in 2001, however, the opportunity was there to pick up where the 1998 demo left off. After finding a rehearsal room, writing new material and Peter taking over vocal duties, they made their live debut in The Front Page on 11 September 2002. Following several more successful gigs, Pop Machine entered the studio for the first time in December 2002 and recorded 'A Beginner's Guide To Pop Machine'. Tracks from this recording were played on local radio throughout 2003 and the third track 'Take You Down' was included on 'The Front Page: A Compilation Volume 2'. After a year of gigging and writing, Pop Machine are back with their new demo - 'Machine Reaction'. While demonstrating a harder edge and darker direction, the songs retain the garage, grunge and classic rock influences that defined 'A Beginner's Guide To Pop Machine'.
