11.10.2007: Buy right... make sure it counts:Ron, IU

more news... back to home page...

There are a number of release coming out over the next few weeks, from bands who you will find on IrishUnsigned.com

The bands who we met with last week and who are repleasing singles over the coming weeks are:
The Kinetiks (Today, Oct 12th) - www.thekinetiks.com
Suddyn (Oct.19th) - www.suddyn.com
Vesta Varro (Oct 19th) - www.vestavarro.com
Primrose (Oct 26th) - www.primrose.nu

There may be other releases coming up also. Any band that has a release on the way, don't expect us to find out by accident. Submit it to the IrishUnsigned.com News section and we might even get involved with helping you maximise your exposure from it. You don't ask, you don't get.

Each of the bands has their single available on all the major download sites. Obviously, if the bands are interested in creating exposure, they want all their salew to count towards the Charts, which might get them a high enough position to warrant some radio-play

If you plan on buying any of the singles in question, or even plan on buying any single by any Irish Artist at any time ever, then please make sure you buy from stores (online or otherwise) who supply sales data to Chart-Track for compiling the Charts. The more that Irish Artists appear in the Charts, the less excuse that radio stations have for playing mainstream US and UK stuff, while telling us that they only play what the public wants, because its in the Charts

Anyway, for downloads, the only sites that count towards the charts are:

3 Music
7Digital.ie
Apple iTunes
Bleep
DA Recordings
Downloadmusic
easymusic
Eircom Music
Outersounds
O2 Napster
Sony Connect
Vodafone
Wippit

Now, Sony Connect seems to be permanently closed down, while Eircom.net Musioc is also closing to be replaced by something else in the next week or two, and we're not yet sure whether the replacement will have chart-relevance. If it doesn't, then don't use it.

Incidentally, from the data we get to see every now and again, it appears that even those sites that do supply sales data to Chart Track don't have a 100% record of actually supplying it. On many occasions, sales that we know took place were never reported, so take the Charts with the requisite pinch of salt.
