Rising act Sutras - regarded by London-based XFM as one of the brightest new Irish acts - will perform at a special In The City ‘Best of Irish Unsigned’ Showcase at Gulliver’s, Oldham St, Manchester on Sunday September 14th on-stage at 9.15pm.

Sutras have had two Irish Top 30 singles ‘Princess’ and ‘The Lonely Ones’ while they won the prestigious 2002 Song of the year with their track ‘Machine’.

At the end of 2002 the band were voted at No.3 on the National “Today FM” Rising Artists of 2002 placing ahead of both The Libertines and The Thrills who placed at No. 6 & No 7 respectively.

The band’s recent internet-only single ‘Believe’ was play-listed on London station XFM while Today FM’s influential ‘Pet Sounds show made the song ‘Single of the week’ earlier in the year.

Sutras recently performed before 80,000 people at Dublin’s Phoenix Park while the band was also recently selected to appear on the “IrishUnsigned.com” compilation album ‘Scene Unheard’ – a showcase CD featuring the best of new Irish talent. Sutras’ track “Believe” was selected as track one.

The band is about to record their new single ‘Blue Mirror Boy’ at Joe Elliott’s (Def Leppard) studio in Dublin. This single is scheduled for release in January with the band’s debut album set to follow in April 2004.

The other acts performing on the night are “The Real” who impressed the critics recently while performing at The Reading Festival and highly rated Dublin outfit “The Things
