| In association with BudRising An Irish Festival for Irish Bands ============================== Festival Launch and National Call for bands 26th June 2006,6pm, Filmbase, Dublin =================================== The Hard Working Class Heroes epidemic kicks off on June 26th 2006 with a Live Launch of the festival in Filmbase, Dublin. Offering a taste of the live talent to expect over the three day festival in October the Festival Website will be announced alongside the National Call for bands. We are also delighted to announce our new funding partners BudRising. Up and coming bands from across the country will be asked to submit their demos to be in with the chance to perform at this year's festival. The successful bands will be chosen by a panel of media and industry judges who will be aiming to ensure that only the finest acts will be treading the boards at this year’s festival. The closing date for submissions is July 27th. This year the registration process will be via Sonicbids accessed through www.hwch.net Having BudRising on board means HWCH can treat each act to their "sign-up" subscription with Sonicbids so application will be completely free! Organisers expect applications to top last years’ record of almost 700 acts. Band members must be over 18 years of age to apply. Now in its fourth year, The Hard Working Class Heroes festival has become the Irish independent music industry's most telling barometer. It is the best way to spot emerging acts as well as an opportunity to see more established artists perform in multiple venues over three nights in Dublin's Temple Bar. HWCH is Ireland's only festival dedicated to Irish bands and host venues this year will include Meeting House Square and The Temple Bar Music Centre amongst other venues to be announced. Meanwhile the support this year of BudRising is an added boon according to festival organizer Angela Dorgan. "It allows us to invest directly in the infrastructure of Ireland’s burgeoning independent music scene and demonstrates BudRising’s belief in the long-term viability of that sector. In addition their series of festivals is something HWCH acts should and do aspire to being involved in." This year’s launch, will feature live action from hotly tipped Oppenheimer and Cowboy X as well as Very Special Guest Iain Archer - previous launch acts have included Director and The Amazing Pilots. Many of the emerging acts who appeared at last years festival (see www.hwch.net for details) have seen their fortunes rise with Duke Special becoming the most recent “Signed Recording Deal” story. As part of the festival activities, HWCH hopes to build on this success by once again inviting music industry figures from both the UK and the US to attend the festival – we are expecting to more than double the number of industry execs making the trip this October. "We received amazing feedback from bands and fans alike last year," enthuses Festival founder Brian Carroll. "And we’re keenly aware of the need to deliver just as exciting a festival in 2006. We are delighted to be still the only Irish Festival for Irish bands on the established festival calendar, and the success of the showcase dimension is borne out by the overwhelming success of artists from last year’s Festival." In addition to hosting performances of 85 acts, HWCH will repeat its very successful series of Music Industry seminars and mentoring sessions this year. Experts from Ireland and the UK will be joined by their counterparts from the US and Canada ensuring that once again, HWCH delivers the international music industry directly to Irish artists.
