Bank of Ireland National Student Music Awards 2008 If your New Years Resolution is for your band to become light then its time to dust off the amp after the holidays and warm up the vocal chords and get your demo off to enter Bank of Ireland National Student Music Awards. There’s only a few weeks left to enter and be in with a chance to getting one step closer to packing out stadiums worldwide and platinum selling albums. Demos should be sent to NSMA, Suite 49, Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6 before 12th February. The NSMA has already seen its previous winners go on to achieve immense success as recording artists, such as Delorentos who have had a top 10 debut album and most recently have been nominated for the Choice Music Award. The Bank of Ireland National Student Music Awards is not just any old battle of the bands. It offers third level student musicians the unique opportunity to perform before respected members of the Irish Music Industry including journalists, broadcasters, A&R personnel, agents and bookers. A panel of industry experts will pick twelve of the best demos to perform at three heats around the country. Four selected entrants will compete at each of the three regional heats which take place at following dates around the country • March 6th: Dublin Regional Final: UCD • March 13th: Galway Regional Final: NUIG Galway • March 19th: Cork Regional Heat: Cyprus Avenue Cork • April 24th: The Final: The Village Dublin The prize up for grabs includes everything that promising young artists lust after such as: extensive Recording time at Religion Music Studios, Dublin; Cash Prize from IMRO; CD Duplication from Easy Duplication; Rehearsal Time at The Rehearsal Rooms HotPress Interview; Consultation with Music Lawyer Edward Traynor; Photography session with Ian Oliver of Letcombe Photography Closing date for entries is 12th February NSMA are open to any act that has at least one member in full-time third level education in Ireland.
