YOU!!..This IS The Chakras.

Three months ago we promised we were introducing you to the first glimpse of a new flame when The Chakras released their debut single Raincloud, produced by Leo Pearson(U2, Elvis Costello). It went to number twenty-one in the charts. Now we tell you the blaze is slowly going to take a hold. Dark Days are coming your way this summer whether you like it or not.

"Dark Days" is the second in a trio of singles The Chakras will release over a nine-month period in advance of their debut album.

Those who have already heard the single suggest that it could have easily stood as a double a-side given the strength of The Journey, the track that backs Dark Days on this release. The finale is guaranteed to raise the incumbent hairs on the back of your neck. Both tracks are produced by Marc Carolan (The Cure, Muse amongst others).

When they are not making music The Chakras are about making the lofty claim that they will record the best debut album of their generation. While the lads are quite vocal in the fact that they listen to many shades of music styles, the band is insistent that the sound they ultimately aspire to will be uniquely The Chakras. They plan to give the world a taste of this new sound on their third single. For now you can catch an indie pop gem when you listen to DARK DAYS.

Given the nigh on frenzied feedback to the debut singles (Raincloud) video, The Chakras joined forces with director Scott Altman again for the accompanying video for Dark Days. Dublin born Altman studied video and animation at the University College of Los Angeles, P I X A R Animation Studios and The Surrey Institute of Art & Design. Scott is currently based in Bangkok working as a Visual Effects Artist creating commercials and music videos for the Asian Market.

Raincloud and the accompanying animated video directed by Scott Altman were both received with deserved kudos and the single spent three weeks in the Irish Top 30. The band was invited to appear on TG4, The Den and to record a pilot for MTV together with being invited to record for the infamous 2FM sessions. Suitable plaudits were bestowed on Raincloud by the national print media including Hot Press, The Irish Star and The Irish Times. 2FM were fantastic in backing the single and it rose to the A play list on its week of release. The Chakras were one of a small chosen number of bands to be asked to record a podcast programme for the O2/MakingWaves series presented by DJ John Power. The lads also recently played in this years IMRO showcase Tour, after returning from a headline slot in front of 5000 people in Spain. A premier result for the bands maiden commercial release.

On July 14 Dark Days is released nationwide. 2fm have again seen the potential in the bands work and have playlisted the track . It also received great press through The Irish Times, Hotpress, The Irish Star and The Metro Newspaper. Once again Scott Altman has directed the accompanying video to the release. Similar to Raincloud, the reaction to the video which can be viewed from the bands myspace page, has been very strong. Channel 6 have playlisted the video on Michelle Doherty’s Nightshift programme.

The band appeared on City Channel’s Entertainment magazine and were interviewed by former Big Brother contestant Ray Shah. Several commercial and regional stations including 98fm and East Coast Fm to name abut a few, have asked the band in for interviews and acoustic sessions.

The Chakras will be busy promoting Dark Days through TV, Radio and Print channels over the future weeks. Having already recorded the next single, the band hope to release a third single in early Autum.
