Twice nominated in the Best Female category for the Irish Meteor Music Awards, Ann Scott has developed a reputation as an intense performer and firebrand songwriter. Her debut album was voted into the Hotpress musicians' poll of Ireland's Top 100 albums ever, while Ann's second album We're Smiling is out now.

A performer of striking originality, her fresh takes on love, obsession, freedom and sorrow reveal a writer with a fondness for stories and characters, with songs such as Wilbur Clown and Farewell Henrietta ultimately telling their own tale. Meanwhile Scott's musical armoury consists of a range of left-field guitars, newfangled synths, detuned mandolas and some quirky ideas on how to go about playing them.

Ann has shared the stage with artists as diverse as Blondie, Howe Gelb and Fairport Convention, slogging hard on the live circuit between Ireland and the UK.

As a vocalist she is in frequent demand- during the past year alone she has sung on records for Kila, David Kitt and Mark Geary, with whom she dueted for movies such as Loggerheads and Steel City.

In 2005 Ann's electronic collaboration for the Earsugar Jukebox Label under the guise of Cracklebox, received a gracious welcome in the UK and garered plays and praise on on BBC1, XFM and BBC 6.

Scott’s trump card however lies undoubtedly in her own work and in her instantly identifiable voice. With this her second album, her own independent label, and the growing acclaim of fans and peers alike, Scott continues to redefine and challenge herself as one of Irish rock music's original creative voices.

Distributed by Cavalerro through RMG and released on her own fledgling Raghouse Records label, Ann's music is for sale in shops throughout Ireland.

'Disarmingly louche and strangely compelling Ann Scott's debut sidles up to the listener like a rebel with a cause..Peter Crawley, Irish Times.- Album Review

'To these ears Scott is by far the most intriguing female singer-songwriter to have emerged of late and on the strength of this debut, she wipes the floor with the opposition.' Kernan Andrews, Galway Advertiser - Album review

'Not one of the highly hyped singer songwriters, but definitely one of the most talented' Dan Hegarty, 2FM.

'Ann Scott has a ragged feel, open to crack and rock. There is a crackling energy to the performance, an intensity that suggests she could at any moment launch into an incendiary Patti Smith like moment. This could easily win over a Homefires crowd or be a kindred brother to the Fence collective. Excellent' Stuart Gibb - Lets Go Baboon Live Review@The 12 Bar
