Rockidle is 29 year old unsigned solo singer, songwriter, and acoustic guitarist Derek Hagan originally from Gormanston, County Meath,Ireland now residing in the UK. Disillusioned by the never ending stream of manufactured pap (pop), lifeless performers, and bad cover versions ROCKIDLE feels his material of melodic, guitar based, catchy rock, pop, folk, and blues lyrically strong more than stands out against the musical mainstream of today. Storytelling at it’s finest in 3 – 5 minutes. Produced by Hill Briggs (who has worked with The Kinks, The Drifters, Status Quo, Sam Brown, Hot Chocolate and Mick Taylor ex- Rolling Stones to name but a few) the 11 track CD album "Sunny Side Up" was recorded earlier this year with a ful band sound. Featuring a variety of styles and sounds Rockidle has thus far drawn comparisons with David Gray (only better), Richard Ashcroft and Badly Drawn Boy. A 5 track acoustic promo "No Time To Waste" was also recorded in Jan 03 and work is on going with some new material. Rockidle's material has been reviewed in Logo (3 times),Hot Press, Sound The Sirens Magazines and has also appeared in NME. These reviews have led to interest from some record labels. The track “You’ve Got It Made” appears on a compiliation CD of unsigned artists which was released by released by Matchbox Recordings entitled “Blast Off” in January of this year. The aformentioned track has recently spent 11 weeks on the Matchbox Radio Top 10 having reached number 2, and has been on the Matchbox playlist for almost 9 months. "You've Got It Made" is currently at number 3 in the MP3 Unsigned chart and has reached the Final of the 2003 UK Songwriting competition. "You've Got It Made" has now recieved airplay in the UK (Siren FM, Southside FM & Matchbox Radio), Ireland (LMFM,) USA (WSVN Radio), Serbia (Radio Fedra) Brazil (The Startrips Rock Show), & Canada (Popstorm Radio). The acoustic version of the track "Shine On" reached the semi final of the 2002 UK Songwriters Competition. Rockidle continues to gig on the London circuit throughout the late Summer / Autumn.
