Mudcat was first conceived in December 2003. The initial idea was to form an original blues based band…fusing blues, rock and jazz, with a flair for musical improvisation. All members hail from Listowel, Kerry, the literary capital of Ireland. Mudcat’s first gig was in early December 2003 and since then they have been playing regularly in Kerry. The band filter in their own originals and remakes of blues standards. The bands many influences are Junior Wells, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Paul Butterfield, Peter green and John Mayall to name a few. A devout following of fans have been tracking the band, now renown for their energetic live gigs. Mudcat are now hoping to expand outside their home territory and break into the larger Irish musical scene. The Band are currently recorded an album (all originals), which will be released for Aug/Sept, and will be used as a platform to gain nationwide attention. |
