‘Blatant Fly’ is a three-piece alternative indie rock band and have been together since mid 2005. The members are Laurence McDade (bass and vocals), Alec Lindsay (guitar and backing vocals) and Adam Kerlin (drums).

We are based in the city of Londonderry but have recently began to play all around Northern Ireland, playing in Enniskillen, Belfast and Downpatrick recently. With consistent, catchy song-writing and energetic live performances we hope to establish ourselves on the music scene around Ireland.

Our main musical influences are very wide and varying from Radiohead, Biffy Clyro and At the Drive In to Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana to David Bowie and Talking Heads.

We hope you enjoy our tracks but to really get an idea of what we are all about you should check us out live.

Here is what Stephen McCauley, presenter of BBC Radio 1's Electric Mainline show said about Blatant Fly's new ep, 'Left as a Rule'

"Blatant Fly’s “Left as a Rule” EP is an important and exciting snapshot of a band testing the possibilities of the 3-piece dynamic. It’s a testament to the band’s deft musical arrangements that their sound strikes such a delicate balance between a sense of space and frenetic, meticulous guitar blasts. What comes through loud and clear is the quality and originality of the song writing not to mention the band’s skill as musicians, particularly Alec Lindsay’s John Frusciante-esque, gliding guitar lines. In lesser hands, these songs could have ended up sounding unfocused but every unexpected shift in tone drifts effortlessly under the control of a band who sound fearless. Don’t let Blatant Fly out of your sight!"
