“The music draws from a wide range of influences, both old and new. It is exciting, raw, energetic and pure, combining infectious melody and thought provoking lyrics, with a strong rhythm and bass section, a powerful dual guitar sound, and warm vocal harmonies. While the music with its intensity is serious, there is also a sense of humour and fun which emulates the personality of the band and its followers.??? ‘Exit the Street’ launched onto the Irish music scene in 2003 to rapturous reception at the acclaimed Temple Bar Music Centre, Dublin. Following their debut live performance ‘Exit the Street’ have developed a unique sound and energetic live performance to the appreciation of many. The bands first hometown gig took place at the Blackbird, Ballycotton, Co. Cork, to a packed audience. Following early live triumphs, the band won the ‘Guinness Battle of the Bands Competition’ in Co. Leitrim, Ireland, fending off stiff competition from some of Ireland’s best bands. Entertaining live performances have seen the band gain a strong and loyal following concentrating in Cork where the band perform regularly. Including repeated performances at the Temple Bar Music Centre, ‘Exit the Street’ have also frequented other live venues in the capital, including Slattery’s on Cable St. The band also hit Limerick city during the summer of 2004 playing the High Stool. Support slots have included shows with ‘Halite’ and ‘The Marshall Stars’. 2004 also saw the band enter the studio with producer John Fitzgerald, recording at Roy Harper’s studio in West Cork. 2005 has started with a flourish for ‘Exit the Street’. The band was recently short-listed in the Murphy’s Band Competition to support The Frank and Walters at an invitation only gig on April 14th with another popular Cork band, The Berries. ‘Exit the Street’ released their self-titled debut EP on March 23rd in Cyprus Avenue to rapturous applause. 96 FM’s Lorcan Murray attended the gig and posted a review on their website. He describes the band as “one of the most promising musical combinations to explode from within 500 miles of Cork in the last few years??? and “an outstanding band who put on an outstanding show???. The band hopes to follow up this initial success with a tour in support of the release. The EP was produced with Cyclefly’s Ciaran O’ Shea at his studio in Cork.
